The time I read my Recycle guide front to back

In Sonoma County they put out a recycle guide every year explaining what items go in your black, blue, and green bins. I love this guide and reference it all the time. I happen to pick it up when I was mooning and just needed something to do that did not involve children. I layed on my bed and read the whole thing.

I have learned a few things, like they no longer take stirety plastic and when to put the tops on and off of plastic bottles, but my favorite things to learn was who to ask questions too. The guide didn’t tell me what to do with pallets, balloons, the christmas lights that do not work anymore, so I email them and someone gets back to me and I can put things in the right bin.

There was this moment when I thought I was spending so much time trying to find out what bin to put things in and then I realized that I can either spend my time making my own hot sauce or washing out the bottle so I can put it in the blue bin. If I want to use life convenience, I must take the time to pay for it later.

Beginner Tip:

  • Take an hour to research what goes in each of your bins. When we put things in the wrong bin, it can contaminate the whole things, creating even more waste.
